FAVORITE CHAIR

day breezes become captured in the coolness, welcomed through open windows stirring stained restless curtains at days end and nights beginning   star carpets and a moon face stare down onto rooftops with their forever light slipping around branches to my favorite chair at meadows edge

HAUNTING

I see a remembrance shadow in most places catching my breath holding me hostage to the step,   the sound familiar, unchanging from the before and the after,   moving within the circle,   smoothly rolling under stars and smiles from a moon as I walk into night quiet

SINGLE LIGHT

a back stairway beyond stars and night clouds   cracked stone steps rise to a stained faded door half screen the other part wood singing with rust when opening and failing to close when shut   gazing up the ascending stairs there’s a light at the end of a twisted cord swinging like a dead … More SINGLE LIGHT

OUR DUSTY ROAD

our car lights cut a shinning path over a dark surface as we pass below boughs of great trees   I lean out the window watching leaves twist as we hurry past   stars blink on a dark infinity sky   warm air rushes through my hair, my eyes blink with excitement   our street … More OUR DUSTY ROAD

CASUAL VISITOR

spider stars high above   suspended glory drawing my eyes to swim up within cool clean air receiving forgiveness as everything opens up and moonlight falls back onto my face I realize I am a hermit visitor within a moving universe

TO THE END

before counted time there was death where dreams cease like a broken branch nevermore to leaf   the moon and stars care not   the sun passes over the clouds and winds prevail while the spirit crosses a river or into a light   those remaining shed tears washing out their souls remembering the last … More TO THE END

UP THERE

The moon   a legend in the sky   a face to talk to a light to cry under   a beacon for our paths alongside rivers shorelines and late night sidewalks   we observe from here at the basement of gravity a beauty that haunts us.

UPSTREAM

There’s no bottom to the city   treeless empty lots   broken stone trash and puddles where buildings were planned to reach the moon and stars   sidewalk people swim upstream in both directions without order searching for a place   sirens help or prevent   subways rattle breathing heavy stoic faces anxious hands

JUST BY CHANCE

eventide appeared   its calmness balanced between back and forth waiting for a command a higher power stars and moon and maybe the sun   to exact the perfect template a framework of directions unspoken unrehearsed a play performed on the world stage unimpeded mostly unnoticed until it begins to move   as it always … More JUST BY CHANCE
