JUST ME

solitary,   being alone when surrounded,   mourning without tears,   reliving the past while believing the first words of the relationship can be repeated   remembering when pockets were full of sun and moon reflecting the glass of a calm ocean as birds swarmed overhead proving miracles did exist

LIKE YOU, LIKE ME

under a crescent moon strangers find company with me   like and open window where caution is fleeting, long on chances short on faith and explanations failing   we are performers with blurred experience, cold to the skin like wet gauze or a spotlight on a road searching for a comfortable end

FALLING AWAY

words I know falling on me from clouds and infinity skies like blizzards of fire or moonlit letters of shadowed memories flowing down reminding, slipping within morning and evening buried in the breath under every sun and moon recalling the moments never to return

OTHER SIDE

early stillness city awakening neon’s blink off apartment lights on a few cars and a cat   warm street air pigeons pass overhead red brick walls slate steps alley doors aroma of bacon and coffee stagnate puddles grease and diesel fumes   sun rising over rivers horizon stepping slowly from earths other side

DESERT FLOOR

a high sun spreading wide like fire within winds baking flat sand lizard tracks and parts of white animal bones the after life in the belly of a scavenger who is always searching for the unexpected or weak waiting impatiently, always hungry

CASUAL VISITOR

spider stars high above   suspended glory drawing my eyes to swim up within cool clean air receiving forgiveness as everything opens up and moonlight falls back onto my face I realize I am a hermit visitor within a moving universe

TO THE END

before counted time there was death where dreams cease like a broken branch nevermore to leaf   the moon and stars care not   the sun passes over the clouds and winds prevail while the spirit crosses a river or into a light   those remaining shed tears washing out their souls remembering the last … More TO THE END

GUIDED SAFELY

a gust of evening wind cools the skin while I follow a path beneath pine boughs and their sweet aroma   an opening light of the moon brushes past mists of ghosts   stars appear like diamond footsteps pointing toward home as night follows close by my side

OVERVIEW

OVERVIEW     the moon commands highways of ocean currents   forming waves   those momentary curled masses of random strength splashing languages onto ancient shorelines from somewhere deep   creating footprints during the highs and lows
