REINVENTING

you surrender to the story, a collision of opinions slipping through cerebral picket fences while avoiding the bad dog of loneliness pretending again for a new ending to the fire and madness, the undercurrent of failings, remembering the good of what should be the best part of any dance as your arms reach around to … More REINVENTING

FALLING AWAY

words I know falling on me from clouds and infinity skies like blizzards of fire or moonlit letters of shadowed memories flowing down reminding, slipping within morning and evening buried in the breath under every sun and moon recalling the moments never to return

SEPARATING WITH STRENGTH

after the fire we are ashes, airborne, tumbling, gray flake shadows barley an image a winged spirit over the wall to the other side hiding in plane sight pounding out a direction to another place angry, but free accepting the thunder and the sun

OTHER SIDE

early stillness city awakening neon’s blink off apartment lights on a few cars and a cat   warm street air pigeons pass overhead red brick walls slate steps alley doors aroma of bacon and coffee stagnate puddles grease and diesel fumes   sun rising over rivers horizon stepping slowly from earths other side

THAT WAY

before evening there’s an afternoon asleep   a recipe of gathering, irresponsibility   street corners the city breathes then exhales a boxcar moaning steel   old faces disturbed that youth is wasted as age burns the fire out then points to the past laughing infrequently wondering what’s left   digging into empty pockets   going … More THAT WAY

FREEZE FRAME

black and white photos of my youth under a dominant sun with uncombed hair barefoot open shirts dirt roads to beaches bridges and paths to discover before porch lights snap on and bonfires send sparks to heavens floor

FROM THE EDGE

From the fires comes the soil of independence a revolution of being disconnected resisting the effort to conform just to exist   while the street calls for a voice and the paper for a pen   desire hopes for the stars to align, discovering the balance under a full moon

ONE THOUGHT AWAY

A spiritual journey of ease and discovery the opening of the obscure heart and innocence   an inner sermon prospering on hope and delicate dreams of calm distant from whispers and swords   the building back of faith from broken stars the hope of creating fires that bind and desires that never sleep

SEARCHING

Disturbed waters are the evidence of youths seeking a smooth belonging; searching to square off the circle. They are dreamers between rocks, pushing from a hard place, attempting to re-create the beginning without pain, escaping the fires between the lines.   Fingers bait the eyes into corners. Second chances come at a cost. Seek to … More SEARCHING

NIGHT CIRCLE

Men absent of home circle the fire with wide brimmed hats. Eyes full of long roads and cold hands absorb the heat under windless dark skies.   Somber lips release words of low tone. Whispers merge with the snap of fire as quiet moods settle like cold soup.   Lines of smoke and sparks rise … More NIGHT CIRCLE
